Study Programmes Destination 3 offers a range of full-time educational courses at different levels and subject areas. All of our study programmes are offered at the following levels; RARPA AWARD NCFE Level 1 Award - Full details below NCFE Level 2 Award - Full details below Our study programmes are supportive, enriching and creative - aimed at those who need support to progress to the next stage of their lives, or who have struggled before within traditional educational settings. Our learners benefit from very small class sizes, supported work experience and potential mental health support – an exciting and unique pathway for those who have struggled in the past within education and/or may be close to employment but need that support to make this achievable while being combined with where needed, English and Maths RARPA Award RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement. It is a tried and tested approach to ensuring the quality of non-accredited learning programmes and learning opportunities within a programme. We use this as a springboard into full qualifications once the young person is ready for accreditation. NCFE Level 1 Award The primary purpose of these qualifications is to provide you with an introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding required in a range of one particular vocational area NCFE Level 2 Award The level 2 qualifications are designed to extend learners’ knowledge and skill in one particular vocational area and prepare learners to enter the world of work. Study programmes are built around 1 vocational subject option. Subject areas; - Carpentry and joinery - Furniture Making - Painting and decorating - Creative Crafts - Enterprise Skills All of our study programmes within Destination 3 are to help learners to: - Develop and enhance skills required for the working environment - Develop learners’ confidence in employment and motivation - Improve communication skills and personal effectiveness - Improve social and emotional health - Provide a basis for further study Some available units across our study programme include; - Business and customer awareness - Dealing with your first days at work - Understanding your customers - Understanding motivation - Understanding work principles - Organisational products and services - Setting your targets - Managing your time - Managing your information - Presenting information Core Skills: Functional skills English and Maths at Entry 1, 2, 3, Level 1 and 2 Hours per week: up to 16 – Current full-time timetable is Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9.00 am-3.30 pm Work Skills / Work Experience: Where appropriate we will seek to help the learner to find external work experience. If this is not available, we will offer internal work experience within our shop, online shop, and manufacturing facilities. Duration: – 1 year EHCP: Also, for all young people with an ECHP will be assigned a 1:1 Mentor who will support them closely in achieving their outcomes, with an emphasis on helping them to see and realise the next step in their lives. The young person will be able to access a one-hour face-to-face session each week with their Mentor, who will review the progress of the young person, set new targets, and stretch and challenge the young person to grow as an individual with confidence. The YP will be supported to exercise choice and control over their lives with an emphasis on the four ‘preparing for adulthood’ outcomes: - Moving into paid employment and/or higher education - Independent living - Having friends and relationships and being part of their communities - Being as healthy as possible Support during this face-to-face time will be tailored to the individual depending on their needs but could consist of (but not limited to): - Engagement Sessions – for those who may have been absent from education for some time. But, also to those who may be feeling anxious about starting a new place of education. - Reviewing and monitoring outcomes. - Educational support – supporting the young person to learn effectively and make progress across their curriculum. Working with teaching staff to monitor academic progress. - Wellbeing support – Providing a safe space to talk about mental health and well-being, supporting YP to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Including low-level support surrounding anxiety, low mood, and self-care, and signposting to CAMHS and/or Adult Mental Health Services where appropriate. - Acting as an advocate for the YP to ensure their voice is heard. - Supporting Transition and next steps – communicating clear and consistent information about the pathways available at Synolos, also transition post-Synolos, supporting work experience placements, CV writing, etc. Qualification details: Level 1 options: - NCFE Level 1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace (601/1088/0) - NCFE Level 1 Award in Developing Enterprise Skills - NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft Wrap around: - Functional Skills qualification in English - Functional Skills qualification in Maths - Certificate in Essential English in Everyday Life - Certificate in Essential Maths in Everyday Life Level 2 options: - NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Craft - NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Developing Enterprise Skills - Level 2 award in Occupational Studies Wrap around: - Functional Skills qualification in English - Functional Skills qualification in Maths - Certificate in Essential English in Everyday Life - Certificate in Essential Maths in Everyday Life |
