At Synolos...
We support young people to build a future and live an empowering life.
We believe that no matter the challenges a young person may face, there should never be a ceiling placed on their life by others or by the limits they may have come to believe about themselves.
We feel deeply privileged to offer a unique outlook for individuals and families across the West Oxfordshire area. Through practical support, encouragement, and opportunity, we work alongside young people to help empower lives where support is needed most.
Our remit is wide-reaching. We focus on identifying each individual’s strengths and potential, guiding them on a journey toward independence, self-sufficiency, and success. Every young person is different, and our role is to ensure they are given the time, understanding, and opportunities they need to move forward with confidence.
This approach is brought to life through our Destinations programmes, which provide structured yet flexible pathways of support, education, and development. Each Destination is designed to meet young people where they are, offering the right level of support at the right time while helping them move toward greater independence and opportunity.
We specialise in working with small groups, creating environments where those who may have struggled in mainstream education or services are given the chance to thrive. Within these supportive spaces, young people are able to build relationships, rediscover confidence, develop new skills, and experience a genuine sense of belonging while working toward a stronger and more secure future.
But our purpose goes further than providing programmes alone. At Synolos, we believe that Special Educational Needs and Disabilities should never be treated as an afterthought. They should be at the centre of conversation and decision-making. Our work seeks to shine a light on the deeper reasons why education and support systems are sometimes unable to meet the needs of young people. By questioning outdated approaches, challenging systemic barriers, and encouraging open dialogue, we aim to help create solutions that reflect the real experiences of young people and their families.
While our work is rooted in West Oxfordshire, what has developed here represents something broader. The maturity of the approach being built locally has the potential to act as a model for future education and support systems across the country. The experiences we see within our community are not unique; they mirror the challenges faced by young people and families throughout the UK.
Education and training systems often struggle to keep pace with the realities of the 21st century. Teachers and professionals possess the skills, creativity, and dedication to achieve far more than the current structures sometimes allow. The Synolos Way stands as both an example and a challenge, demonstrating that a different approach is possible and reminding us that young people deserve systems that truly support their potential.
We will continue to share what we do, how we do it, and why it matters. By working with our community in West Oxfordshire and beyond, we hope to show that with the right support, open dialogue, and genuine belief in young people, meaningful change is not only possible, it is already happening.
