Before I came to Synolos I thought it was too late for me to better my life, I want to do something for myself and my daughter. As a young mum I have seen that Synolos is a place that really helps and accept people from all different kind of life. Before I came to Synolos I had confidence issues as I did not feel like people accepted me as a young mum, but when I came to Synolos I immediately felt comfortable and accepted. Synolos have given me my life back and given me hope for me and my daughter’s future.
Cole Age 17 - Vocational Studies Course
I have been at Synolos since September 2015, I wanted to go to mainstream college but for personal reasons this would not have worked for me nor would have I have felt they would accept me. I found out about Synolos through my mentor who got me an interview with the Director of Synolos. I found him to be serious but funny and down to earth and felt that this was a god place for me to go to. Since September I have been studying Photography, English and Maths and in November I started Beauty. My Photography tutor is understanding and fun to work with, the tutor has got me very interested in Photography more so then I was before.
Ryan Age 19 - Started as a student but now a full-time staff member - Vocational Studies Course
Before I attended Synolos I always had trouble with my confidence and did not know what I wanted to in my life, but since I became a student at Synolos my confidence has improved greatly in everyday life and also within the working environment. Synolos has also helped me find the path that I wish to follow, something that I wouldn't have found without them.
Richie Sutton - Age 22 - Supported Education
Synolo is great because it’s helped me a lot in learning new skills and it is fun to be there. Everyone is so friendly and kind and understanding and they are always there for your support. When I need support when I was going through a rough patch with my health they were always there for me. Barry is so funny in the workshop making a nice atmosphere, sometimes he jokes around and pretends to dance, he is quite a funny dancer lol, he does it to put a smile on our faces and it works, I love going to Synolos
Leighton - Aged 15 - Schools group
Synolos has helped me by giving me a training courses outside off mainstream education and making it feel more like work. If I didn’t have this I would of been kicked out of school by now gaining few or no qualifications, Synolos offers me the chance to gain qualifications and help me find what I want to do with my life.
Reece - Age 18 - Vocational Studies Courses
I have studied carpentry for 2 years and in this time my confidence has grown. The staff have been very helpful and made it a good working environment. I would like to work in carpentry and would not of known this if I had not been a Synolos
Sarah - Age 17 - Vocational Studies Courses
I have enjoyed my experience at Synolos because my previous college had a bully problem. Before I came to Synolos, I dreaded coming to college as it was the worst part of my week due to being bullied by other students and teachers. Synolos has given me lots more confidence and now the best part of my week is going to college (Synolos). All the Staff are very supportive and friendly, all the students are kind and pleasant. I have made friends for life at Synolos and I honestly could not ask for a happier experience. Choosing Synolos was the best decision I have ever made. The lessons are always fun and enjoyed with a cup a tea or coffee. I feel that I learn a lot easier in Synolos lessons because there is only three of us in each lesson, this helps me because you get more one to one support.
Samantha - Age 20 - Vocational Studies Courses
I became a young parent whilst I was still in secondary education. I didn't have any sense of direction before I started Synolos two years ago, they helped me choose the path that was right for me and gave me the confidence I needed to succeed, after a year at Synolos I progressed to Abingdon & Witney College. I am now a qualified Beauty Therapist, I was able to do this thanks to everyone at Synolos in that first year. I have now re-joined them as Synolos is helping me set up a business that I can fit around my child.
Shannon - 17 -Student - Vocational Studies Course
I have been at Synolos for just over six months now, studying business, art, photography and Functional skills. I have no problems in my time of being here. The students and staff are very friendly and helpful people. The staff are very positive for people like myself who struggle in larger classes, they are supportive and encouraging and over all a Synolos is a good and supportive place to learn
