Destinations programme intent
At Synolos, the Destinations programmes exist to help young people move closer to independence, meaningful activity, and where possible employment.
Many young people who come to Synolos have struggled within traditional education or support systems. Some may have become disengaged from learning, isolated from their communities, or unsure about what their future could look like. The Destinations pathway provides structured, supportive opportunities that help young people rebuild confidence, develop practical skills, and begin shaping their own futures, encouraging them to imagine and dream about what their lives could become.
Independence sits at the heart of everything we do. This may be achieved through gaining qualifications, developing vocational skills, building confidence, expanding life experiences, or learning how to manage everyday challenges. For many young people it also means moving closer to employment, whether through paid work, volunteering, training opportunities, or meaningful participation within their community.
Through small group environments, personalised mentoring, wellbeing support, vocational learning, and real-world experiences, Synolos creates spaces where young people can grow at their own pace while developing the skills, resilience, and self-belief needed for adult life.
The Destinations pathway is designed to support young people at different stages of readiness, creating a clear progression that moves from initial engagement and confidence building through to education, employment preparation, and greater independence.
The overall aim is not simply participation in programmes, but genuine personal development that empowers young people to live more independent and fulfilling lives.
The four Destinations are not a rigid pathway. They are flexible programmes designed to meet young people where they are, and in some cases individuals may access more than one programme at the same time. That flexibility is one of the most distinctive elements of the Synolos model.
